It was very active, made gorgeous bread and I was very diligent about feeding it regularly. Sadly I went on vacation for four days and the friend I had trusted it with somehow managed to completely kill it during that short time period. Thinking of this makes me feel the need to get things started this week and I hope to have something bubbling for me by next week sometime. I'll blog it and keep track with photos. :)Jen the Bread Freakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09620504757724896039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33168922.post-21231426044955238292007-07-29T18:09:00.000-07:002007-07-29T18:09:00.000-07:00Ahh. Well, you're closer to the "San Francisco Sourdough" thing than I - I'm up in Benicia, so while I've got the bay ... it's just not the same.

I did get quite an active culture going after a while - it would triple in the fridge overnight, and on the counter in a couple of hours. But, alas, it's found a new home in the Napa Valley, as it just wouldn't pack well. :)David T. I do know that the air here in the SF bay area (I'm at the very southern end of the bay) is very good for sourdough starters, so maybe that will help give things a little boost?Jen the Bread Freakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09620504757724896039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33168922.post-39868562085991004682007-07-29T08:00:00.000-07:002007-07-29T08:00:00.000-07:00That's about the way I did mine last time - just l...That's about the way I did mine last time - just left it sitting out on the counter, pretty much. Mine took quite a while, though, before it really came into its own, so when you said that you were going to just START one ... I thought you had some secret voodoo that you might be willing to share. ;)David T. I'll get myself geared up to do a post about it soon...in the next week sound good? :)Jen the Bread Freakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09620504757724896039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33168922.post-80635183865414799742007-07-28T19:49:00.000-07:002007-07-28T19:49:00.000-07:00How do you plan to just "start" some sourdough? I'm ever so curious, because I've just given my entire sourdough starter away, in preparation for an international move, so I'm going to have to re-start on the other end.David T.
